Art

Have you seen "Schindler's List"? Or perhaps, "Lawrence of Arabia"? The fact that such beautiful works of art can exist redeems mankind in my eyes. Listen to a Beethoven Symphony with your eyes closed and let the music carry you. Or listen to one of my favorite songs, which also encompasses one of my opinions on life, "In the aeroplane over the sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel. A beautiful song with a chilling, realistic, and yet beautiful message.

Because the timing of the Harry Potter books coincided with my growing up, I'm not ashamed to admit that I felt emotionally attached to them. Why? Why would I care if a fictional character would die? How can that connection happen? Art is mankind's saving grace.

Not civilization, not technology, not religion, and definitely not politics, art is the one thing that transcends it all.

Play Final Fantasy VII. Spend 50 hours of your life, a mere 2 days, living and solving someone else's problems. The interactivity combined with the depth and wonder of the story and artwork forms a masterpiece of emotionality.

Anyway, art is, I believe, why I have faith in people.
